Frequently Asked Questions
Our Radiology and Diagnostic Services FAQs provide guidance on what to expect before, during, and after imaging procedures. Here, patients can find answers about preparation requirements, safety measures, and the timeframe for receiving results. By offering clear information, this section is designed to ease concerns and ensure patients feel comfortable, confident, and well-prepared for their diagnostic care.
We currently offer x-ray and ultrasound imaging services.
Preparation depends on the type of exam. For example:
- X-rays: No special preparation is usually required, but you may be asked to remove jewelry or clothing that might interfere with the imaging.
- Ultrasound: For abdominal ultrasounds, you may need to fast beforehand. For other types, the instructions may vary. Upon booking an ultrasound appointment, our front desk will provide you with more specific instructions depending in the type of ultrasound you require.
Most diagnostic imaging exams are safe, but some, like X-rays, involve exposure to radiation. The risk is generally very low, especially when the procedure is necessary for diagnosis or treatment. Your doctor will weigh the risks and benefits before recommending an exam.
The length of an exam varies depending on the type:
- X-rays: Usually only take a few minutes.
- Ultrasounds: Usually take 15-20 minutes.
- X-rays: images will be available same-day upon payment via email or Whatsapp only. The x-ray report will be available within 24 hours of having the exam done via email or Whatsapp. A printed copy of the x-ray report only is available upon request.
- Ultrasound: printed images and report will be available same-day upon payment.
If follow-up imaging is necessary, your doctor will guide you on when and why it’s needed. Sometimes additional tests are required to monitor a condition or confirm a diagnosis.
It’s crucial to inform your doctor and the radiology technician if you are pregnant or suspect you may be. Certain imaging tests, like X-rays, may not be recommended during pregnancy due to the potential risks of radiation. Your doctor may opt for safer imaging options or postpone the test.
It depends on the type of test. Always follow the specific instructions provided by your doctor. The front desk will provide more specifc instructions depending on the type of imaging appointment scheduled.
Insurance coverage for diagnostic imaging varies based on your plan. Contact your insurance provider before the exam to check coverage.
Many imaging tests require a referral from a doctor or specialist, but it varies depending on the type of insurance and the test itself. Be sure to confirm with your doctor and insurance provider.
